CBD for Pain Management? CBD is the holistic medicine sweeping the nation, but does it actually work? Find out now!

CBD is a natural alternative to habit-forming opioids for a more holistic approach to chronic pain management. CBD contains no addictive substances and offers relief from the symptoms of chronic pain, inflammation, and anxiety with very few to no side effects.

By working with our brain's endocannabinoid system, CBD helps ease symptoms like chronic pain while simultaneously offering neuroprotective benefits in the long term.

Over the years, many research studies have been conducted on the benefits of CBD on chronic pain sufferers. In many of these research studies, CBD has been shown to help ease various types of pain, including cancer pain, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain. In addition, members of these research studies reported fewer days with pain and showed no long-term dependence or adverse side effects from prolonged CBD use.

But CBD is not just good for cancer, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain sufferers. Other research concluded that arthritis patients might also find relief from CBD use. In one study, rats with arthritis were given varying doses of CBD over four days, and it was noted that the rats receiving 6.2 mg a day of CBD saw a reduction in inflammation and pain. During this research study, it was noted that CBD appears to have an anti-inflammatory property that may be an excellent treatment for multiple inflammatory diseases.

For cancer patients, CBD didn't just reduce pain. Many cancer patients reported having a healthier appetite while taking CBD supplements and less vomiting and nausea. While more research is still needed to see how cancer patients react to CBD treatments, the preliminary and ancedotal research is promising.

Additionally, while research is currently limited, a few studies have suggested that CBD may be a good alternative treatment for migraines. A 2017 study showed that patients taking CBD or THC reported less pain than those not taking a CBD supplement.

Though studies are promising, CBD can have some mild side effects, such as mild diarrhea, change in weight, loss of appetite, and fatigue. Further, CBD may interact with drugs you're currently taking, prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, or even supplements, so before you start taking CBD, be sure to ask your doctor if it's right for you.
